Battle Ship: Youth Group Games

Quick Overview:

A great large group game that will take about 5-15 minutes. A battle between two teams (could be more if you have larger numbers) to fill the board with hits on the other team!

Supplies You’ll Need:

1. A grid of seats. This can be a grid taped on the ground, or rows of chairs.

2. A Master Grid For The Game Facilitator. Each time you call out a set of coordinates, mark that spot so you don’t call it again. This will also help you fill up the board at a consistent level. I recommend just using a piece of paper and hand drawing you grid.

Prep:

Create your grid of the ground or out of chairs

Create a grid for the game facilitator so they can track the game

Game Play:

Separate teams evenly. Have them line up single file away from the seats (at an equal distance).Send one person from each team at the same time to a spot on the seating grid. The students will act like missiles. The first student to fully land in that spot stays, the other students go to the back of the line. The first team to land 12 “hits” (this number is up to you) on the board, sinks the other teams battleship. We usually play best of 3. The faster the pace, the better.

TIPS TO HELP THIS GAME MELT FACES:
  1. Every time a student lands in the seat, have the teams yell BOOM!
  2. Make the last game everyone must be on the board!
